Jane Spakowsky grew up immersed in the artistic culture of Vashon Island in Washington state. She is widely known for her mixed media portraits layered with collage papers, inks, pastels, and paint. Jane finds great joy in color-mixing and has developed a stylized palette unique to her work. Her sense of composition comes naturally. Her subject matter, mostly portraits of women, seems to read like a diary hinting at many aspects of her own life.
